Have you ever stopped to think about what truly matters in life? Today, I have a quiz for you — but it’s not the kind you’d find in a classroom. It’s something that will make you reflect on what really leaves a lasting impact.
The First Quiz: Achievements and Fame
- Name the five wealthiest people in the world.
- Name the last five Heisman Trophy winners.
- Name the last five winners of the Miss America contest.
- Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.
- Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for Best Actor and Actress.
- Name the last decade’s worth of World Series winners.
How did you do? If you struggled to remember, you’re not alone. These individuals were celebrated in their time, yet their names fade from memory.
The applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten.
The Second Quiz: People Who Matter
Now, try answering these:
- List a few teachers who guided you through school.
- Name three friends who helped you through a difficult time.
- Name five people who taught you something worthwhile.
- Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.
- Remember a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.
- Name half a dozen heroes whose stories have inspired you.
Much easier, right?
The Lesson: What Truly Matters
The people who have made the biggest impact in our lives are not the ones with the most money, the most credentials, or the most awards. They are the ones who care.
The ones who show kindness. The ones who take the time to listen. The ones who offer support when life feels heavy.
At the end of our journey, we won’t be remembered for our bank accounts, job titles, or trophies — we’ll be remembered for the love, kindness, and encouragement we shared.
Long after achievements are forgotten, the impact of kindness remains.
Your Challenge: Show Gratitude to Those Who Matter
This week, I challenge you to take a moment to reach out to someone who has made a difference in your life. Send them a message, write a heartfelt note, give them a call, or even meet for coffee.
Let them know how much they mean to you.
You never know how much those words might encourage them. Sometimes, people don’t realize the impact they’ve had until someone tells them. Be that person this week.
And if you feel inspired, take it a step further — pay it forward by being that person for someone else. Offer kindness, lend a helping hand, and create a ripple effect of encouragement.
Quote of the Day:
“People may forget what you said, people may forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
— Maya Angelou
We spend so much of our lives chasing success, yet in the end, it’s not success that leaves a lasting mark — it’s love, kindness, and human connection.
Take a moment this week to appreciate those who have lifted you up. And if this message resonates with you, pass it on to someone who has made a difference in your life. Let them know they matter. 💛
